In a speech to the nation on 3 January 2010, King Mohammed VI announced the creation of the CCR with the objective of entrusting this organ with the task of preparing a project that would lay the foundations for a future plan of decentralisation of the power. The result is a 500 km of coastline between Tangier and the Algerian border home to a handfull of lively cities, rural areas and a series lavish estates still in construction. This orchestrated development has left behind both urban and rural populations struggling to identify with, or recognise, Morocco ́s new face. “Regionalist Spring” aims at investigating the long term results of the Advanced Regionalisation plans on the northern territories and it ́s population.
