LOST IN HARDISKLAND
To Reynold Johnson (1906-1998)
On January 2, 2013, I lost most of my pictures for the second time in less than 10 years. A botched system update deleted most of my data. Long years of work were wiped out in seconds. I had no back-ups for most of the images. Thanks to a credit card, Dead Disk Doctor, Data Recovery, Image Recover, Undelete Plus, Inspector File Recovery, Recover My Files, Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery, Handy Recovery, Disk Drill, Recuva and other obscure hard drive doctors, surgeons and plumbers, some traces of the past reappeared, ghosts in mazes of frames, partitions, layers of digital data and colored lines.
A new series of strange, random and autonomous images was born.
