DIMITRIY LEVDANSKI

BAIKONUR 97

In ‘Baikonur 97’ I explore immigration and the duality of identities through the use of my family’s photographic archive. The digital edits featured in the work display at least one character that has been duplicated or cloned recreating the visual representation of a mutant human plague. The outcome of this operation is a surreal narrative that critiques and parodies the negative connotations immigration receives nowadays on mass media reports that often refer to migrants as “invaders and aliens”.
