At the Centre Photographique Marseille, Paulien Oltheten is presenting an exhibition on everyday rituals and miracles, combining her archives and her latest work Lourdes TV, as a work in progress, presented here for the first time. She painstakingly selected photos and video clips that scrutinize the boundary between daily routine and ritual (the sacred), spirituality and madness. The show offers visitors an experience bordering on enchantment and amazement. At a time when many people harbor doubts about facts, democracy and the future and seek advice in all kinds of rational or mathematical tables, finding beauty and peace in not understanding, not knowing, in the unimaginable and unpredictable, seems increasingly necessary.
