This exciting five-day workshop full of exchanges, experiments and immersions will mainly focus on how to express a sensitive, personal view of the world. It will be about the stories around us, about others, an other, a place, a time, a desire and also ourselves. Bruno Boudjelal will closely follow the participants in carrying out a personal project, helping them to weave, compose and structure a group of photographs by his side. Editing, discussions and the choice of distance will play a key role. Whatever the subject, their goal will be to transcribe in images not necessarily what they see but what they feel or would like others to feel. The approach is based on the many different kinds of opportunities Arles has to offer. They will largely depend on each person’s experience, goals and sensibility. Everyone will receive careful attention. The last day will focus on finalizing and presenting the series.

BRUNO BOUDJELAL
As a Frenchman of Algerian origins, photography for Bruno Boudjelal is a lifestyle in which he endlessly questions his own identity and confronts us with our own. When his father decided to return to Algeria, he went with him and began to uncover a country, a family, landscapes that spoke to him, a world scarred by violence and individuals whose conversations forced him to question his sense of self. Creating both a diary and testimony, Boudjelal travelled Algeria for ten years. He used both black and white and colour and became increasingly aware of his subjective point of view; one marked by his personal history but curious enough to bring daily life into perspective. His work is often published, exhibited and awarded - he receives the Nadar Price in 2015 for his book  "Algérie, clos comme on ferme un livre? ».
He is represented bu Vu’ Agency.
