A CLOUD OF BLACK SMOKE
Photographs from Turkey 1968-1972. I received these photographs on the 30th anniversary of the 1968 uprising movement in Turkey. The photographs were hidden and saved by members. They were taken in several neighborhoods of Istanbul, Tokat, Niksar, and Kızıldere, and in many other places all around Turkey. Some of them are from the massacre in Kızıldere. Together with the pictures, a text has been written by the person ‘who heard the voice of blood’, the only person who survived this massacre. It is a very special text for the youngest generations whose history is intentionally manipulated, hidden, and not told. Photographs have a language that everyone can understand without any historical knowledge. Is Kızıldere a beginning or an end?
