Anouck Durand

Born 1975, Pau, France. Lives and works in Paris, France.

Anouck Durand examines the connections between image and narration by writing graphic novels created out of archival collections and photographs. Together with Gilles de Rapper, anthropologist and researcher at the CNRS [French National Centre for Scientific Research], she is conducting research on photography during Albania’s communist period. They are the co-authors of Ylli, les couleurs de la dictature [Ylli, the Colours of Dictatorship], a monograph on the eponymous Albanian propaganda magazine. In 2010, she was awarded the Institut Français’ ‘Hors les murs en photographie’ [Outside the Walls in Photography] grant.
