CAROLINE PONS

Born 1979, Arles, France.
Lives and works in Arles.
Between her mother’s cooking and the family restaurant (Le Bistrot du Paradou), Caroline Pons developed a love of food at an early age. She started working in the luxury hotel business in 1999, notably for Baumanière in Les Baux-de-Provence, and Sofitel London St James. In love with the south of France, she returned to Arles in 2011, running the restaurant Chez Caro for 5 years before opening Simone & Paulette in 2018. Always looking to make new connections, Sam Stourdzé introduced her to Kamal Mouzawak’s remarkable fair kitchen project, showing off traditional Lebanese cuisine for this year’s Rencontre d’Arles, which puts Lebanon in the spotlight. She thus took the helm of Tawlet Arles at Croisière, the pop-up venue featuring Rencontres exhibitions, an Actes Sud bookstore, and Label PIAS records.
