Eduardo Arroyo
Born 1937, Madrid, Spain. Lives and works in Madrid, Spain.
As an artist in fierce opposition to Franco’s regime, Eduardo Arroyo soon fled his native land. He arrived in Paris in 1958; there he expressed his political ideas through figurative artworks. He returned to Spain a few years later, passions appeased, and fell in love with the country. Humour and tenderness emerged in his work. His extremely literary style is characterised by an almost non-existent depth of field and sweeping planes, achieved mainly by collage, his preferred technique.
