Ana María Rueda

Born 1954, Ibagué, Colombia. Lives and works in Bogotá.
Ana María Rueda has worked over the last decade on video installations and photography-based projects after working in painting and sculpture. She has participated in several national and international events, including: Phoenix, Luis Caballero Award 2015; Correr el telón, Royal Academy of Spain, Rome; Paisaje sin figura (Landscape without figure), FLORA ars + natura, Bogotá; Bosque sin sombra (Forest without shadow), and NC Gallery, Bogotá. Her work explores the archetypal forms of primordial elements in nature, from which she generates metaphorical correspondences with human experience, such as fear, loss, empathy, and pain in contemporary society. Her work examines the sacred in nature, emphasizing the existential link between the human being and the environment, as well as the interpersonal, ethical and social relationships impacted by the effect of social abuse on the environment.
