Les Forges
LUMA Arles is located on the Parc des Ateliers, a site originally dedicated to the construction and repair of steam locomotives. Built in the 19th century, the former industrial buildings were renovated by Annabelle Selldorf and are now used for different purposes. The Tower, designed by Frank Gehry, completes the former workshops. Its twisted façade decorated with stainless steel bricks captures and renders all the color variations in the sky, giving the building an everchanging appearance. The interior spaces allow for different uses with a panoramic terrace on the 9th floor, exhibition areas, a library, and permanent installations, among others.
