Massimo Berruti
Lashkars
Massimo Berruti took his investigative camera to the Swat Valley in Pakistan to observe the day-to-day life of the Lashkars, the traditional militias drawn up by former tribal warriors and supported by the Pakistani military. The Lashkars are the first line of defence against the Taliban. They contribute towards the peace and security of the area in the face of bomb attacks and infiltration by rebels. Massimo Berruti made this report between January and April 2011 in Pashtunistan, the subject suggested for the Carmignac Gestion Photojournalism Award.
Exhibition venue: Capitole, Chapelle Saint-Laurent.
