Jean-Louis FROMENT

In 1973 Jean-Louis Froment founded the CAPC/Museum of Contemporary Art, Bordeaux, of which he remained director until 1996. A contemporary art specialist, he has organised many international exhibitions in France as well as in Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Morocco, Holland, USA, etc.  At the Venice Biennale he was the curator for Italy in 1980 and for France in 1992 and 1994. He also works as a teacher and workshop coordinator in schools in France and abroad. Adviser on museography and the creation of the collection at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona from 1986 to 1984. Adviser for the creation of the CAÏXA collection in Barcelona in 1980-90. Expert adviser to the chief curator at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1988-2000. Adviser and exhibition curator at the French Cultural Centres in Marrakech and Casablanca in 1997-2003. Adviser on museography and the collection to the François Pinault Foundation for contemporary art since 1999.Artistic director for the exhibition "The World of Jean-Paul Gaultier" at the Royal Museum, Tokyo in 2001 and the History Museum, Singapore in 2002. Artistic director for the "FashionPassion" exhibition, São Paulo, 2004. Artistic director for the International Contemporary Art Prize, Prince Pierre I of Monaco Foundation, 2005.
