Michel MALLARD
Michel Mallard an artistic director, curator and photographer. Over the last ten years he has worked on, as creative director and editorial adviser, magazines and reviews including L’Autre Journal, Biba, Colors, Jalouse, Marie Claire Japan, Blast, L’Officiel and Vogue Hommes International. In tandem with his press work, he has been art director for the Schirmer/Mosel and Steidl publishing houses, most recently for photography books by Candida Höfer, Thomas Ruff and Jean-Baptiste Mondino. Since 1998 he has been curator of the Fashion & Photography Festival at Hyères, in France, including its young photographers competition and the exhibitions. Some of the latter have travelled to the Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, at the Palais du Luxembourg in Paris; the Centre National de la Photographie in Paris; The Photographers’ Gallery in London; and Unit-F in Vienna. As his publications and exhibitions intersect and mesh, the same names tend to appear in the galleries and magazines he is associated with: Jonathan de Villiers, Kyoichi Tsuzuki, Claude Closky, Solve Sundsbo, Ari Versluis & Ellie Uyttenbroek and others.
