Marcos Adandia

Born in 1964 in Buenos Aires. Lives and works in Buenos Aires.

Marcos Adandia studied social communication in the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), art history at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and photography at the Escuela de Arte of Avellaneda. He took part in different workshops on the photographic essay, under the direction of Adriana Lestido. Since 1990 he has been working as a photographer for Agencia Argentina de Noticias and at the same time has collaborated with Pagina 12, Jornal doBrasil and the magazines Rolling Stone,Tres Puntos, Noticias, Mother Jones and Elle among others. Adandia has carried out artwork projects related to music and books. In 1999 he was awarded with Premio Mención by La Casa de las Américas in Havana, Cuba, for his essay ‘Diana’ and in 2003 he was awarded Latin America best photographic essay by Mother Jones Foundation in San Francisco for the essay ‘Madre de Desaparecido’. He has taught on the subject of the photographic essay in Morelia, Querétaro, and Mexico City at ‘Centro de la Imagen’ and in Buenos Aires. He has exhibited his work in Argentina, Mexico, Cuba, the United States and France. Since 2005 he has directed and edited the cultural magazine Dulce Equis Negra.
