Milou Abel
Born 1990, Utrecht, the Netherlands. Lives and works in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Milou Abel graduated in 2011 from the Photography Department of the HKU in Utrecht. Abel examines the people who intrigue her. She temporarily becomes a part of their daily lives. In the self-published book Ik ben jou (I am you), Abel tells a story about a woman who she regularly encountered on the street. The book combines Abel photographs with old private pictures of the woman, creating a story from these different periods in which the woman is captured. In 2012 Abel was nominated for the Dutch Doc Award. The year before she won the first prize of the Dummy Award at the Photobook Festival in Kassel. Her work has been shown at Plattform at Fotomuseum Wintertur, during the Krawkow Phototmonth, and in The Nederlands Fotomuseum.
