Rachid Koraïchi is a visual artist. Since 1970 he has shown his work in many museums and foundations around the world. Mohammed Kacimi, a native of Algeria and member of a Sufi brotherhood (El Hamel), describes the mentoring that Rachid Koraïchi has received for many years with great mystics such as Hallâj, Attar, Sidi Abû Madyân, Rûmi, and Râbi â Lal-adawiy. The history of Algeria, which they have witnessed together (pre and post independence, and during the troubled period of Islamist terrorism) has prompted these two Algerian artists to seek ways to convey the image of real Islam as people practise it, in a climate of tolerance, openness and happiness.
