Carla VAN DE PUTTELAAR
Born in 1967 in Zaandam, Holland.
Lives and works in Amsterdam.
Since completing her studies at the prestigious Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, this young Dutch artist has been concentrating on the female face and figure. Systematically using models with very white, near-transparent skin, she has them pose nude in a studio bathed in that characteristic Northern light, and lingers over simple, modest gestures.
Carla Van De Puttelaar presented her work at the Rencontres d’Arles in 2006, nominated by Alain D’Hooghe for the Discovery Award: Galatea at the Magasin Electrique.
