He trained at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, and teaches photography at the Roger Williams University in Bristol. His work is held in the collections of the French National Library, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Photography in Rochester, and the Elysée Museum in Lausanne.The artist was the subject of Directions for Leaving, a retrospective exhibition and catalogue held in 2007 by the Fotografisk Center in Copenhagen. His work will feature in the exhibition on American photography being staged by the French National Library in late 2008.
