He immortalised the beginnings of the Zingaro equestrian theatre company with Colette Godard, receiving the 2000 European Publishers Award for Photography. After La ballade de Zingaro (Éditions du Chêne) then Bestiaire and Bestiae (Actes Sud), he has just published Altitude (Manuvres Éditions).
He lives in Marseille, and works in his studio at the Belle de Mai creative facility.
He presented his work at the Rencontres d'Arles in 2008: Bartabas / Alfons Alt in Arles.
