David Balicki

Born in 1969 in France, lives and works in Paris.
David Balicki is 36. In 1987 he spent a year in an American high school and learnt the rudiments of photography and journalism. After studying at the National School of Photography in Arles from 1990 to 1993, he returned to the United States in 1996 to pursue his interest in American literature via a series of portraits of writers. Once back in France, he published this series and began to work for the press: Libération, Le Monde, Télérama, L'oeil Electrique, etc. In 1997 he was commissioned to carry out a project on the working class Paris suburb of Les Mureaux, which gave rise to the exhibition Espace vécu. In 1997-2004 he worked regularly for the Le Mondesupplement Aden, photographing numerous personalities from the cultural scene. He now lives and works in Paris, where he is also a photographer for the publishing house Stock.
