Stéphane Couturier has been exhibiting since 1994 by series (Urban Archaeology, Generic Cities, Landscaping). The city is his preferred subject. His photographs are characterised by a double aspect: the documentary- style investigation which is an integral part of his research as a visual artist. With the Melting Point series, he questions the notion of the subject by superposing two photographs. The resulting duality allows a theatricalised architecture, consisting of several screens or successive temporalities, to appear. The recipient of the 2003 Niépce Prize, he exhibits regulary in Europe and the United States.
