For the DATAR Mission, at first Sophie Ristelhueber focused on mountain scenery seen from railway tracks. Then, she made color photographs of Côte d’Azur landscapes, where this time, nature is completely subordinate to people. for over 30 years, her singular approach to ruins and traces left by man in war-torn places or by natural disasters has laid bare the facts and scars of history.
