Laurent MILLET

Born in 1968 in Roanne.
A photographer and visual artist, Laurent Millet has lived for the past 10 years by the Gironde estuary, whose landscapes and human activities have advanced his work. He has taken possession of the elements that have most strongly impressed him: the traps, huts, clouds, water, mud, wood, wind... in photographic and videographic forms, capturing them as-is or repurposing them.
Thus does he compose chapters of an imaginary encyclopaedia, inhabited by objects that he constructs in natural settings or in his workshop. His assemblages are hybrids of traditional objects as well as of works by artists he enjoys.
His oeuvre can be perceived as a series of Bachelardian reveries on the physical phenomena of landscape and the materiality of imagery.
His work is held in public collections in France and the USA. He has mainly held exhibitions at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, USA; at the CGAI, Santiago de Compostela, Spain; and, in France, at the Hôtel des Arts, Toulon, and the Festival of Lectoure.
