Portrait photography is a vast area encompassing many practices, but it always aims to capture a person’s features by taking account of his or her environment, emotions and status. This three-day course will take various approaches to help participants steer their work towards what matches their desires and personalities. It will explore distance, lighting and time management.

Participants in this three-day course will take stock of their photographic practice by identifying what works, what doesn’t and what can be improved, experimenting to narrow down choices (distance, technique, subject, etc.).

REPORTAGE: THE GREAT GYPSY PILGRIMAGE
Participants in this intensive three-day course will explore the gypsy festival in Saintes Maries de la Mer, a small town near Arles: a unique event when various communities come to honor their patron saint, black Sarah.

This photographic immersion into the heart of the Camargue for an exciting weekend of encounters and discoveries will help participants develop a personal style. Between documentary and sensitive research, they will travel by mini-bus through an extremely interesting photography playground to deliver their vision of these vast spaces and the people alongside them.

This three-day course will revolve around portraits and the participants’ ability to move beyond the single image of an encounter in order to create a series. It will focus on shooting, analyzing the photographs made, thinking and discovering other photographers.
