The quest will gradually become more personal and inward-looking in these repetitive alternations, contrasts and different atmospheres. Participants will be asked to dig deep down within themselves and find a common denominator based on their sensations and feelings in order to connect everyday experiences to one another, working on what characterizes their gaze, accompanying the sensibility that dictates distances, obsessions and detours. Through daily editing sessions, exchanges, reflections and new starts, they will find their vocabulary and, consequently, develop their photography.

In step two, relying on assistance from veteran assistant editors, they will finalize a personal series that will lead to a slideshow. The editing will become tighter, gain meaning, transmit sensations and find its right form and pace. The completed projects will be shown on a big screen in public on the workshop’s last night.

Klavdij Sluban combines photography and travel, working worldwide. A winner of the 2000 Prix Niepce and the 2004 Prix Leica, his photographs are shown in the world’s most prestigious institutions, including the Finnish Museum of Photography in Helsinki, Musée des Beaux-arts de Canton, Estonia National Museum, Central American Photography Festival in Costa Rica and Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris. His many books include Entre Parenthèses, Photo Poche, (Actes Sud) and Balkans Transit (Seuil). For 10 years, he has led workshops for teens at the Fleury-Mérogis juvenile detention center. In 2000, he created a photo workshop in Celje, Slovenia, at the country’s only prison for young offenders, as well as in Krusevac and Valjevo, Serbia.
