Éric Bouvet will go back to the basics of photography and set a different pace, taking the time to see, open up the gaze, observe without haste, reflect and precisely compose. Using 4x5, 5x7 and 8x10 cameras, participants will cover various aspects, from shooting (directly on paper in black and white) to developing, allowing them to see the results the same day before analyzing and editing them. Each day will focus on a particular approach.
The first will concentrate mostly on shooting outdoors (street photography, cityscapes, etc.), the second on portraits without and without lighting. This enriching experience aims to develop the uniqueness of each participant’s gaze and reveal the enjoyable, magical facets of analog photography.
Éric Bouvet made his mark working with the Gamma agency in the 1980s. Leading international newspapers and magazines—Time, Life, Newsweek, Paris-Match, The Sunday Times Magazine—publish his work, which has received wide recognition. He has won the Bayeux-Calvados Award for War Correspondents, the Prix Paris Match, two Visa d’or awards, the 150th anniversary of photography gold medal and five World Press Photo awards since the beginning of his career. He has published two books, Femme du Rwanda (Catleya) and La dernière mine (De La Martinière).
