The 51st Rencontres d’Arles was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the government’s measures have prevented us from organizing opening week’s main event, the Night of the Year. For 16 years, the Rencontres d’Arles Night of the Year has projected around 40 proposals—the festival’s favorite artists and photographers, carte blanche to institutions—in a loop on several large screens. This great nighttime stroll would have taken place in July on the site of the former Étienne paper mill. The programming was already well underway last spring, with around 30 projects ready. We want to share them with you today online. We now invite you to discover montages of the participating artists and photographers’ works, and thank them for agreeing to put them online during this unusual time. Enjoy the show!
