Agnès Varda is one of the few artists to have been both a photographer and a filmmaker. She enjoyed printing her own photos, and would have continued doing so if cinema had not taken up most of her time. She entrusted her images to a peerless printer, Diamantino Quintas, known to many photographers. Diamantino spent a lot of time in the lab with Varda from 2012 on. It was only natural, then, that he should print three views of Sète, presented at the 2023 Rencontres d'Arles as part of the exhibition of photographs that served as a reference for her film La Pointe-Courte. Brigitte Patient met Diamantino in his laboratory, surrounded by his four ginger cats.
The Agnès Varda Collection is deposited at the Institut pour la photographie des Hauts-de-France and can be consulted on its
website. ÉCOUTEZ VOIR is proposed and presented by Brigitte Patient, directed by Lucile Aussel and produced by Isabelle Duriez. A wave.audio production.
