The year 2019 marks the beginning of Joanna Krawczyk journey with the body of work of the artist Claude Cahun and predominantly with one of her photographs, Autoportrait from 1920. While in Leipzig. She remade the image for the first time. Within the next gesture of becoming the photographic figure, the performative and multiple act of entering the image became a part of an artistic practice. During the research of Claude Cahun’s biography, she discovered a second image-collage which opened up intriguing perspectives around the questions of gender play, auto-formation, social hierarchy, performativity and identity.
