ASSOCIATION DES ÉTUDIANTS DE L’ENSP

WORK IN PROGRESS

WIP (Work In Progress) is an annual exhibition created by l’AEENSP (l’association des étudiants de l’École nationale supérieure de la photographie) specifically for Les Rencontres d’Arles. WIP is first and foremost designed to showcase the research, work in progress, and questions that students tackle in their role as artists. The key theme of experimentation lies at the core of the exhibition, as reflected in the chosen venue, collaborators, and displaying techniques, offering an inviting glimpse into young contemporary photography. WIP#19 only serves to confirm its role in providing a panorama of the diverse body of work undertaken by ENSP students; particular care is taken to display an ensemble that accurately reflects the many and varied artistic identities, and to create a coherent whole from these whilst avoiding needless repetition. We have joined forces with the scenographer Elizabeth Guyon to create a groundbreaking set design, in keeping with the distinctive gymnasium provided by le collège Frédéric Mistral. The viewer is guided through the set via paper strips (an allusion to both the printing process and creative process), inciting him/her to adopt a different position and view towards the works. The overall effect is of a playing field where the spectator can discover and adapt to new rules.

Exhibition curators: Léo Aupetit, Florent Basiletti, Théa Guéniot, Rosalie Parent, and Emma Riviera.
Artistic direction and set design: Elizabeth Guyon, assisted by Milo Penel-1er Siècle, creative counter-space.
Graphic design: Paul Cabanes and Eva Lambert.
