Alassan Diawara has created a new series of photographs, for which he spent several months exploring Nîmes and its surroundings, encountering many people in the process. Through glimpses of life, the young Belgian photographer’s images explore youth, the connections between different generations in families and communities, and seek to capture a certain essence of the Gard and Camargue imaginary. His photographs are presented in dialogue with Zineb Sedira’s works on the subject of familial and cultural transmission. The artist, who represented France at the Venice Biennale in 2022, also mentored Alassan Diawara in the construction of his project. This is one of the twelve projects that make up La Fleur et la Force, the exhibition of the 1st Contemporaine de Nîmes.
