Art Researches #5

Ad vitam æternam, From treatment to enhancement

For the fifth year, four students from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie (ENSP) are in residence at the laboratories of the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (Inserm). In an age when organs can be printed in 3D and prosthetic devices can enhance individuals’ performances, technology is blurring the boundaries between bodies and machines. The contract of medical research is clear: science is here to help us, but each new medical gesture and every breakthrough requires a new ethical framework.

Project coordinators: Caroline Bernard, artist and professor at the ENSP; Juliette Vignon, head of exhibitions and publications at the ENSP; Catherine d’Astier, assistant director of communications at the INSERM; Claire Lissalde, head of the audiovisual service at the INSERM; Adeline Bouzet, director of communications at the l’INSERM.
Exhibition coproduced by the ENSP and INSERM.
