David FOURRÉ
Lamaindonne publishers, Publisher & Director, France
3 Morning
Born 1972, David Fourré worked in the youth publishing industry for 15 years before setting up his own publishing house devoted to photography, lamaindonne, in Marcillac-Vallon, Aveyron. Most of lamaindonne’s books feature work by photographers who give access to intimacy. With about 20 titles in its catalogue, lamaindonne deeply questions issues of editing, photographic writing, the text-image relationship and production. The catalogue includes work by recognized “young” photographers such as Gabrielle Duplantier, Julien Coquentin, Gilles Roudière, Gaël Bonnefon, Ljubisa Danilovic, Alisa Resnik, Martin Bogren, Yves trémorin, Denis Roche and Gilles Mora. Mr. Fourré publishes photography books in different contexts (panel discussions, round tables, workshops, portfolio readings or at the book trades department at the Université Jean-Jaurès in Toulouse). Today lamaindonne is recognized by the profession. It won the 2019 HiP Award for publisher of the year. Trova by Gilles Roudière and Monica by Yves Trémorin received the 2019 and 2021 Hip Award for best Artistic Monograph, while in 2020 Guillaume Geneste’s Le Tirage à mains nues won the same prize in the History of Photography category. Passenger, by Swedish photographer Martin Bogren, just received the Perle du beau-livre in the photography category. La Frontière by Joseph Charroy, Saisons noires by Julien Coquentin and Mr. Trémorin’s Monica were finalists for the Nadar Award. Today lamaindonne is partnered with several galleries and festivals and publishes works with the Galerie du Château d’Eau in Toulouse and ImageSingulieres in Sète.
