Dominique Charlet was the director of Getty Images France and the Sygma Presse agency and founded the Taïga Images agency. In 2004, he managed the photo space at Art Event, Lille, and in May 2006 started the Indépendances fair dedicated to young contemporary photographers. At the same time, he was head of photography at SCOOP, an international photojournalism festival in Angers, for many years.
Mr. Charlet is also an agent who now represents about 40 photographers on the art market (www.charlet-photographies.com). In addition to acting as a gallery, the agency has three main areas of activity: curating exhibitions, corporate consulting and collaborating with design and interior architecture agencies.
Since 1994, Mr. Charlet has participated in portfolio readings at many festivals in Europe. He advises companies and institutions on their collections and helps them organize photography events in Europe and China.
The Pingyao International Photography Festival/China (PIP) selected him to curate the French pavilion from 2009 to 2012 and 2018 to 2023.
