Marieke WIEGEL

Fondation Grote Kerk Breda, Director, The Netherlands

4 Morning
For over twenty-five years I’m working within the cultural field as manager and curator for institutions such as World Press Photo (Amsterdam), Magnum Photos (Paris) Institut Néerlandais (Paris) and Nederlands Fotomuseum (Rotterdam). Actually I’m artistic director at the Foundation Grote Kerk Breda (Great Church of Breda). This is a magnificent national monument dating from the 14th century. Besides the management of this monument I’m in charge of a high-quality cultural program within the field of contemporary art and photography.
Actually, I am a member of the advisory board of Atelier EXB and advisor for Mondriaan Fund for photography. Specialized in photography I do have also an extensive knowledge of contemporary art and graphic design.
Over the years I worked on exhibitions such as: Newsha Tavakolian – Space to Breathe I BredaPhoto 2022, Charlotte Dumas – Horse Drawn (2021) Koos Breukel – Portray Gallery Sisters (2021) - Ed van der Elsken – Lust for Life ( 2019), Cas Oorthuys (2018), Unwired - Jacqueline Hassink (2018), Ulay – Polaroids (2016), Viviane Sassen– UMBRA (2015), Irma Boom – Architecture of the book (2013), Charlotte Dumas – Anima (2012), Breitner – Pioneer of street photography (2011), Guido van der Werve, Minor pieces (2009), Erwin Olaf – Rain Hope Grief and Fall (2009), Sandberg – Graphiste et directeur du Stedelijk Museum d’Amsterdam (2007), Desiree Dorlon / Exaltation – Gaze – Xteriors (2006), Ed van der Elsken – Bagara (2005)."
