Didier BROUSSE
Camera Obscura Gallery, Director, France
5 Morning - 5 Afternoon
In 1984, Didier Brousse opened a printing and framing studio (Atelier Demi-Teinte) that publishes portfolios of original prints (Eva Rubinstein, Lucien Hervé, Paolo Roversi). In 1993, he and his wife Kiyoko Okitsu founded the Camera Obscura gallery, which focuses on what they like.
At first, the gallery exhibited works by photographers Mr. Brousse made prints for before extending its range to include Japanese photography and, over the years, established artists such as Sarah Moon, Bernard Plossu and Michael Kenna and photographers who were little known in France, if at all, including Pentti Sammallahti, Yamamoto Masao and Jungjin Lee. It has held approximately 180 exhibitions in the past 30 years.
