Pierre Bessard has led several lives: in France, China and South Korea. He has been a reporter-photographer at AFP, head of the photo department at VSD magazine, documentary filmmaker (CAPA/ARTE) and photojournalist for the REA press agency. He has won many awards, grants and subsidies (Villa Médicis hors les murs, etc.).
In November 2011, he founded Éditions Bessard, a demanding independent publisher that works closely with artists and graphic artists. Quality, excellence and originality are the heart of its editorial line. So far, Éditions Bessard has published around 50 books and the Zine Collection. Mr. Bessard defends emerging artists but also publishes world-famous ones such as Max Pam, Joan Fontcuberta, Pieter Hugo, Bill Henson and Ed Templeton.
