Damarice Amao is a photography historian and has a doctorate in art history. She teaches the history of photography at the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie, co-curated the exhibitions Eli Lotar (Jeu de Paume, 2017), Photographie, arme de classe (Centre Pompidou, 2018) and Dora Maar (2019) and co-directed the catalogues accompanying them. She recently presented the exhibitions Charlotte Perriand. Politique du photomontage (2021) at the Rencontres d’Arles and Décadrage colonial. Anticolonialisme, Surréalisme, Photographie moderne (2022-2023) at the Centre Pompidou. Damarice Amao is currently a curator at the photography department of the Musée National d’Art Moderne/Centre Pompidou.
