Clément Chéroux

Born 1970, Vélizy, France.
Lives and works in San Francisco, United States.
Clément Chéroux is senior curator of photography at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). Chéroux served as photography curator and then chief curator of the Department of Photography at the Centre Pompidou in Paris from 2007 to 2016. Prior to that, he was a lecturer at University of Paris I and Paris 8, and University of Lausanne, and was executive editor of the magazine Études Photographiques. Chéroux has published more than 40 books and catalogs and curated or co-curated more than 20 exhibitions on modern and contemporary photography. Chéroux earned a PhD in art history from the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne and a degree from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie, Arles.
