Lionel Roux is a photographer. He is the son and grandson of shepherds. He learned to take photographs while following transhumances with his uncles, and then travelled the vast lands of photography as an archivist at Magnum.
He more decisively embarked on the photographic road after discovering the pictures of Joseph Kudelka. One morning in 1994, he headed off with his camera to join the shepherds of the Pyrenees.
Fairly quickly his photography received many awards, confirming the commitment he had made. From then on, he stayed on the transhumance trails, which he walked in France and in many countries.
For fifteen years now, he has been building with pictures the narrative of the silent passion at the heart of the pastoral world.
