Alexandra Catiere

Born in 1978 in Minsk in Belarus. Lives and works in Paris.
Alexandra Catiere’s interest in photography began in Moscow while working with the artist Yuri Kuper. She studied at the ICP in New York, before joining Irving Penn’s studio in 2005. This same year, her series Behind The Glass was selected by Charlotte Cotton, the curator of the Art+Commerce Festival of Emerging Photographers. In 2006, she received an award at the Silver Camera competition in Moscow in the portrait category. She regularly collaborates with the press (The New Yorker, The New York Times, FOAM, Crash...), has participated in the photography festivals of Hyères (2007) and Rome (2009), and exhibited her work at the gallery Pobeda in Moscow (2010). In 2011, she was the winner of the first edition of the ‘Résidence BMW au Musée Nicéphore Niépce’ in Chalon-sur-Saône. The work created during this residency will be the subject of her first book published by the Trocadéro Editions.
