Thibaut Cuisset
Born in 1958, Maubeuge, France. Lives and works in Montreuil
Since 1985 his photographic work has taken the form of successive campaigns, with each series tackling a different location. The countryside visited in each case was not somewhere to be covered for its newsworthiness but a set of landscapes whose character slowly becomes apparent in fixed scenes. He has roved across many regions of France using this approach. At present he is in the United States and doing a series about the French countryside. In 1992-1993, he was a fellow of the Académie de France in Rome (Villa Medicis), resident at the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto in 1997, and in 2009 was awarded the Prix de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts/Marc Ladreit de la Charrière. Thibaut Cuisset is represented by Les Filles du Calvaire Gallery, Paris.
