Alexandre Slussarev started taking photos in 1959 and quickly became a member of the USSR Youth Organisation Committee’s photographic section. In 1962 and 1964 he participated in the Our Youth exhibitions. In 1979 he had his first solo exhibition in Riga, as part of the Baltic photo festival, before presenting many exhibitions in the USSR. He exhibited at the Moscow House of Photography and the Moscow Photo Biennale. His photographs feature in the collections of MoMA (New York) and the New Mexico Museum of Art (Santa Fe), among other institutions.
