Jean-Michel Fauquet
Born in 1950 in Lourdes. Lives and works in Paris.
Jean-Michel Fauquet’s works derives from very distinct procedures that utilise drawing and sculpture, and which result in photographs similar to engravings. He mainly works in a studio setting, using simple and basic materials to create the subjects and worlds evoked by his photographs. Looking at these images, the spectator is often provoked into constructing a tale from his own memory and imagination. Jean-Michel Fauquet’s work is found in major public collections (Fonds National d’art Contemporain, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Musée National d’Art Moderne). He has published twenty books and catalogues.
