Katharina Gaenssler

Born 1974, Munich, Germany. Lives and works in Munich, Germany.

Katharina Gaenssler studied at the Academy of Fine Art, Munich, after she had completed an apprenticeship as a silversmith. She acquired a pre-eminent position reinforced by prestigious awards, such as the Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis (2009), a travelling scholarship from the Bavarian Government (2011) or a working scholarship of the Foundation Kunstfonds Bonn (2014). She had a teaching grant at Brunswick University of Art (2011-2013) and was Guest Professor at Hamburg Art Academy (2013-2014). Her work was shown in Germany and abroad, including the Sprengel Museum (Hanover), the Lenbachhaus (Munich), the Deichtorhallen (Hamburg), the Art Museum (Stuttgart) and the Public Art Collection (Dresden).
