Ulla Jokisalo received the Finnish State Award for Visual Art in 1984 and 2001. She is associated with the “Helsinki School.” She has recently become known to the public via her exhibition Intentions: Under the Guise of Play, organized by the Finnish Museum of Photography in 2011. Combining photography, drawings, and objects, her work explores individual and family memory from a psychological and feminist perspective.
