Born 1974, Warsaw, Poland. Lives and works in Warsaw, Poland
With a degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Aneta Grzeszykowska works in photography and film, two tools with which she tries to demonstrate the power of fiction and construction. In a project entitled Album (2005), she attempts to delete herself from her family’s photography. In the series Sans titre (2006), thanks to digital retouch software, she creates entirely fabricated portraits. In keeping with her first works, her films, as in Headache (2008), and Holes (2011), exhibit the fragmented and recomposed body of a woman. Through these works, she questions her representation of herself and her relationship to the image.
