Beatriz González

Born 1938, Bucaramanga, Colombia. Lives and works in Bogotá.
Beatriz González is a key figure in modern Colombian art. Her work includes painting, installations, and drawing, all of which comment on the life of the country with a subtle and piercing sense of humor. She studied Architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and Fine Arts at Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá. She received an Honorary Master’s Degree in Visual Arts from the University of Antioquia and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ministry of Culture. Her work has been exhibited in Colombia and abroad since 1964. As a researcher of Colombian art history, she has published books on 19th century art in Colombia and on the history of political caricature in Colombia.
