Kate Barry

Born 1967, London, United Kingdom. Died 2013, Paris, France.
Kate Barry began her career as a fashion designer. She made her first fashion photographs in 1996 and worked with leading magazines such as Vogue, Elle and Vanity Fair. Her first solo show was in Tokyo in 2000. Her 2005 exhibition Cornered, Portraits-Paysages, at the Léo Scheer gallery, featured color landscapes dialoguing with black and white portraits of prominent figures. In 2012, Éditions de la table ronde published Dinard, essai d’autobiographie immobilière, combining an essay and photographs in collaboration with writer Jean Rolin. In 2013, Ms. Barry presented 30 portraits of actresses at the first KYOTOGRAPHIE international photography festival in Kyoto and, the same year, her exhibition Point of View-Portraits/Natures-Mortes at the opening of the CINÉMA-Anne-Dominique Toussaint gallery in Paris.
